Rainoldi Sassella Riserva 2007
Valtellina, Lombardy, ItalyFrom the most elegant and complex of the subzones of Valtellina. A faded orange red hue, with heady smoked Ricola nose, alpine herbs, fernet and amaro bitterness, candied maraschino cherry, wet leaves, sweet pipe tobacco, cinnamon bark, nutmeg and cedar scents. Mountain berries, smoked meat lead the palate and though the acidity is tamed a bit with age, there are quite a bit of smoothed, silken tannins there, drawing out iron, autumnal and earthy mushroom notes. Drink now (truffle risotto or sautéed mushrooms on rapini) as this is facing the descent.Tasted: 10 April 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $46.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Seacove Premium Wine & Spirits |
