Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIf you've given up on maréchal foch because of one too many poorly made, foxy examples, Quails' Gate Fortified Vintage Foch might just be the rich, figgy, chocolate-pairing wine to bring you back. The nose is quiet at first, a bit boozy and a swirl of sugarplum. The palate, though, isn't shy, with heaps of cracked pepper, silken plum, fig paste, cigar, cherry pit and dark chocolate covered orange. The finish is long and peppery-potent - almost demanding a pairing of blue cheese or dark chocolate.Tasted: 05 April 2015Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFoch is a specialty at Quails' Gate and this fortified foch with its earthy, peppery, meaty, smoky nose with flecks of resin, mulberry, tobacco, caramel and tomato paste is just another example. Full, rich, round, juicy, sweet palate with peppery, savoury, smoky, meaty, coffee, black plum jam, orange peel, tobacco, rancio flavours. A bit warm and tart mid-palate but there is better fruit than last edition.Tasted: 23 December 2013Tasted by: Prices:
