Opus One 2010

Napa Valley, California, United StatesSimilar to last year’s tasting this wine wowed me with its ability to straddle the New and Old World. The 2010 vintage was unique with unseasonably cold days, untimely rain fall and several heat spikes. Yet somehow Opus managed to overcome all of it. Again complexity and finesse ooze from what is a very cool/floral/mineral nose with bright red fruit flavours underneath. The palate is suave and dense, the tannins fine-grained tannins and along smooth balanced finish. The blend is 84/5.5/5.5/4/1 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, petit verdot and malbec.
