Château Léoville-Barton 2010

St. Julien, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceI admired the perfumed, raspberry, light anise, deeper florals and woodsy cedar notes of this St.-Julien, the predominance of cabernet sauvignon (77 percent) evident, as was the whiff of (good) bret. The graceful and finessed nose carried through to the palate: black raspberry, black cherry, dark coffee and juicy acidity. Tannins are strident and youthful, and fruit is ripe though restrained, with finely rasped spice and light smoke on the lengthy finish. Will hold, knit and improve over the next two decades.
