Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2010
Pauillac, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceA compelling, characterful wine, impossible to bypass even though I was tasting through a flawed bottle. Light smoked stone, smoked berry, earth, stem and savoury gravels. Alluring bacon, black cherry, blackcurrant and anise carries fluidly across fine boned, structured tannins. The gravels and minerality present poised and finessed, even though the wine dried out at the finish, sadly. I wish the bottle was sound, and I'm looking forward to retasting, but the quality was unmistakable. Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2010
Pauillac, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceA controversial bottle sporting what many thought was some TCA. Even so the wine you could feel and taste a much better structure in 2010 and despite the TCA a cleaner wine with no Brett. The blend is 66/24/7/3 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. It’s firmer and denser than we have seen in a while. With some of the fruit knock off by the cork, and no back up bottle, it really must be re-tasted again for a definite score.
