Alvear Fino NV

Montilla-Moriles, SpainPerhaps the least understood and appreciated of international wine styles, this fino can inspire your wine journey from the moment it hits your palate. Its pale, barely straw colour precedes a fresh, yeasty, saline nose with a background of crushed almonds. The attack is bone dry, with more salty nutty notes interspersed with citrus and earthy flor. Clean, complex, and inviting, this is a drink for grown-ups. Technically, it has had a biological birth (under a blanket of flor) for more than four years in American oak casks by means of a solera system. This fino is not fortified because it reaches 15ºC alcohol through fermentation using Pedro Ximenez must. The Spanish love to serve this style of wine well chilled with olives, shellfish, ham, cheeses, or sushi.Tasted: 14 May 2024Tasted by: Prices:
