Vina Tondonia Red Reserva 2002
Rioja Alta, Rioja, SpainFrost reduced the harvest load by 30%, never a bad thing, especially in a growing season that didn’t inspired grape growers. The wine is mature beyond its years now showing leather and quite a bit of Brettanomyces. The blend is 75/15/10 tempranillo, garnacha and graciano and mazuelo aged in barrels for six years. If you look beyond the Brett there are dried berries, earth and vanilla notes previewing a dry, relatively high acid red with a modicum of tannins. Best with meat or chicken dishes especially those with a savoury edge. Disappointing for the price.Tasted: 04 March 2015Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $54.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
