Sandhill Gamay Noir Sandhill Estate Vineyard 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSandhill's gamay noir falls on the darker, deeper end of the spectrum, and 2012 is no exception. Black plums, toasted cedar and light smoke aromas. The palate is full, weighted down with a whack of wood spice and ragged stave tannins (15 months in French and American oak barrels). Black plum, black cherry, black tea and thicker smoke cling on the palate, though while juicy, is overwhelmed by wood. Pour this if you need a big, gutsy red to match up to your grilled pepper steak - not if you're in the mood for a lithe gamay.Tasted: 26 March 2015Tasted by: Prices:
