Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva Finca Ygay 2008

Rioja Alavesa, Rioja, SpainThis historic estate in the south of la Rioja Alta is one of the most memorable vineyard visits - pristine, peaceful, unhurried and untouched (much like the graceful wines). This vintage is a blend of tempranillo, garnacha, mazuelo, graciano, aged in American oak barrels for 18 months. Gentle notes of dried cherry, subtle wild raspberry and cranberry on the nose. The quietly confident palate carries the finessed fruit across long, fine and chalky tannins. Leather, fragrant red flowers and sun warmed pottery to the lingering finish, lifted with delicate acidity. Drinking lovely now with tender young pork or truffles, but will continue to gain complexity over the next five plus years.Tasted: 22 March 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
