Tasmania, South Australia, AustraliaJansz Tasmania is closing in on 40 years of production, and it has been a proven, reliable producer year after year. The fruit is sourced from selected cool climate vineyards from the Pipers River and Tamar Valley regions in the north, to the Coal River Valley in the south. Each batch is kept separate until the blend, roughly a 66/34 chardonnay/ pinot noir mix. The nose is a taut affair of orchard fruits with lemon zest and honeysuckle. The palate has terrific tension, wild strawberries, and bright acidity, tempered by creamy textures and hazelnuts at the finish. It's released with a minimum of three months of bottle age after it is disgorged. Oysters, anyone?Tasted: 05 April 2024Tasted by: Prices:

Tasmania, South Australia, AustraliaThis label is highly reliable because the fruit is sourced from selected cool-climate vineyards across Tasmania. The individual batches are all kept separate until the blend, roughly a 75/25 chardonnay/ pinot noir mix. The nose is a taut affair of red apples, lemon zest, and honeysuckle, with streaks of wild strawberries and bright acidity adding the tension. The palate is rich in lemon curd and creamy lees with final notes of grapefruit and licorice. It gets 18 months of lees contact, which explains the complex nutty notes.
