His natural-bent, off-hands and innovative approach yields ethereal, exciting and alive wines, like this pinot noir, from a cooler, south facing site in the upper Yarra. Gentle aromatic black currant, black cherry, subtle clay weight to the nose. The finessed, elegant and precise palate carries tobacco, black florals and black cherry seamlessly across finely grained tannins. A gentle juiciness surrounds the savoury edged, stony structure, finishing long and gravelly spiced. Finessed and harmonious.
