Kootenay River Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCalling itself North America's first biodynamic winery from inception solicits attention. Setting up in Fruitvale, on the Columbian River Basin in the Southern Kootenays demands attention. French biodynamic farming consultant Phillippe Armenier and Bordeaux winemaking consultant Alain Sutre advise proprietor Jamie Fochuk and his young family on their estate grape and winemaking, and results deserve your attention. Fresh red apples, citrus blossom aromas lead to a juicy, crisp and limey riesling. An abundance of fleshy apples and stone are tightened with lime pith and linger with herb-tinged minerality. 9.5 percent alcohol welcome and well placed.
