Palacios Remondo La Vendimia Rioja 2012

Rioja, SpainLa Vendimia, or 'The harvest,' is a delicious style joven or young Rioja that spends six months in oak barrels. The blend is 50/50 garnacha and tempranillo that results in juicy supple round friendly fun wine but with meaning. The 2012 vintage was particularly warm and dry favouring the local varieties. At Palacios they picked late after the fall rains had filled out the grapes and the wine is delicious. The fruit sits at some 500m and the estate-owned 10-to 40-year-old vines have been grown organically since 2003. We love the floral, spicy, cherry jam, plum aromas and the whack of spicy raspberry cherry fruit. Drink now or over the next three years with lamb veal or even fish.Tasted: 23 January 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
