Champagne Moutard Pere et Fils Brut Grande Cuvée NV
Champagne, FranceThis blanc de noirs (100 percent pinot noir) was entirely sourced from the clay-limestone soils of the Côte des Bar and the villages of Buxeuil and Polisy. There's a lovely tension between tight lemon peel and rich cherry brioche which welcomes investigation, and a second glass. Three years on the lees, and a 10 g/l dosage reveals itself in the proliferation of roasted almonds and hazelnuts, bread dough, toasty ginger spice, all nipped tight with prickling acidity. Fantastic price for a Champagne ready to match grilled / spiced chicken or roasted winter squash. The Moutard family have been making wine since the seventeenth century, and this is their flagship wine.Tasted: 01 December 2018Tasted by: Prices:

Champagne, FranceRoasted nuts, dough and lemon curd are backed up with red currant and floral cherry blossom notes in this pinot noir from Côte de Bar. Grippy and firm on the palate, with a crunchy acidity to lift, this finishes with a cherry pit pithiness. This spent three years on the lees, and has a 10 g/l dosage. Disgorged in March 2014, this is ready to drink, especially with canapés.Tasted: 05 December 2016Tasted by: Prices:

Champagne Moutard Pere et Fils Brut Grande Cuvée NV
Champagne, FranceToast and a sweep of sweet brioche opens the nose of this blanc de noirs, 100 percent pinot noir from the heavy clay, limestone-laced soils of Buxeuil and Polisy in the Côte des Bar. The Moutard family have been making wine since the seventeenth century, and this is their flagship wine. Thirty-six months on the lees, this full and toasty NV draws cherry and nuts along a creamy, doughy palate. A pin-prickling acidity lifts the weight to a lingering finish. A richer style, to pair with protein, at an excellent price.Tasted: 27 July 2016Tasted by: Prices:
