Carmignano, Tuscany, ItalyThis DOCG is a 70/20/10 mix of sangiovese cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The nose is fragrant with spicy black cherry and cassis aromas with a dusting of oak. The palate is balanced with the red fruits setting the tone for the richer cabernet notes. This would be perfect with a mushroom pasta dish. The yields are low, one bottle per vine, total maceration is less than three weeks before the wine spends 16 months in French oak barriques followed by 10 more months in bottle.
