Loma Larga Pinot Noir 2011
Valle de Casablanca, Region de Aconcagua, ChileThe Loma Larga vineyards are in Lo Ovalle, a sub-valley of the Casablanca Valley planted in 1999 at some 240m above sea level. For the pinot noir, the selection is bunch by bunch, followed by another sorting table selection before a berry selection is made. All grapes undergo a 5 day cold soak prior to fermentation and the wine stays in contact with the skins (post fermentation maceration) for 5 days and then it spends about a year in 100 percent French oak (15 percent new). We love the silky mouthfeel here and the floral, black cherry aromas. The palate is equally fresh and rich with earthy, red fruit flavours, bits of orange peel and pepper. Fine complexity and depth. Well done. Perfect for British Columbia salmon dishes. Tasted: 17 December 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | estimated retail price |
