Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandOpawa or the 'smoky river' isn't your classic Marlborough pinot given its dry reserved style. There is a hint ripe strawberry fruit on the nose with bits of thyme and rosemary. The attack is juicy albeit with notes of cranberry and celery salt and liquorice root flavours with just a hint of sweetness in the silky back end.
