Warre's Otima 10 Year Old Port NV

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalOtima is a blend of 'The Big 5' traditional Portuguese varietals Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinto Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cao. The wine has spent an average of 10 years in old oak casks, though some of the blend will be upwards of 40 years old. An elixir of golden auburn, Otima is all caramelized sugar and fig newtons in the nose and follows through into nutty butterscotch on the palate. Smooth and seamless, with enough balancing acidity to remain fresh and prevent cloying in the mouth, Otima is ideal to drink with food. This is an example of contemporary Portugal tawny. Pair with walnuts and dried fruit. This is a great tawny for those who prefer a slightly lighter style - not too heavy to enjoy after a large meal, but rich enough to satiate the sweet tooth.Tasted: 13 September 2014Tasted by: Prices:
