Laughing Stock Vineyards Amphora VRM +30/09 2013

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Enns have produced a tribute to how wine was made a thousand years ago by using the ancient technique of fermenting in terracotta clay amphorae. VRM is short for viognier, roussanne and marsanne and the Rhone-style white blend is off to a great start. The grapes are wild-fermented and aged on the skins in clay pots. The colour is pale yellow with honey, light grapefruit, waxy, cinnamon, baked peach and pear aromas. Dry, elegant, round, slightly oily texture with soft acidity. Soapy floral, lychee, ginger, honey, pear, baked quince and herb flavours. A bit warm but good complexity and texture on the finish with a slight bit of astringency. Well done and you can drink this wine now. Love the price too.Tasted: 12 August 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
