Qui Ocho Syrah 2012
Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileYou don't get much for $13.75 so I take my hat off to this, slightly sweet (but tolerable) syrah with a savoury smoked meat nose and palate. The attack is soft and supple, the mid plate sweet with a hint of acidity before ending dry and short. That said dollar for dollar this is a solid barbecue red that is cheap enough to pour for the hordes but still appeal to a wine crowd. Chicken, pork and beef will all work when grilled.Tasted: 18 April 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $13.75 | 750ml | speculative listing - Waldorf Wine Group |
