Marimar Estate Chardonnay Don Miguel Vineyard La Masia 2010
Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThree different chardonnay clones: 61% See, 21% Rued and 18.0% Spring Mountain are behind this blend. Barrel fermented in French oak; 20% is new; it goes through 100% malolactic fermentation and is aged on its lees for ten months. Expect an open, inviting nose of citrus and hazelnuts with a fresh, stony minerality underneath. Suitably generous it has classic rich, Russian River styling but with Torres elegance and restraint. Tropical fruit notes mix with exotic flecks of orange and spice. Not for skinny chardonnay fans but excellent nonetheless.
