Gianni Brunelli Brunello di Montalcino 2009
Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThe consensus on 2009 Brunello is good but not great and perhaps best drunk sooner than later. It's a good example of a wine that would be better off spending less time in wood if it was allowed. Gianni Brunelli's death has brought his wife Laura fully into the business of Brunello and she seems perfectly suited to the elegant style of the Brunelli Brunello. The nose is fresh offering the classic red fruit, dried herbs, liquorice savoury aromas and flavours. Plenty of acidity makers it food friendly and in the case of the '09 it's ready to drink now.Tasted: 24 April 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $83.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Trialto/Liquid Art Selections |
