M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Méal Blanc 2010

Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe grapes come from the Méal hillside a very old geological fluvioglacial alluvial deposit soil mixed with pebbles cobble and other river material. Half the wine is vinified in big new wooden barrels (600 liters) the rest in old vats and kept in wood for about a year. Honeysuckle and lots amazing stony minerality under pins a viscous, creamy, white wine. Almost exotic this is showy stuff that despite a fat character has the structure and phenolics to age effortlessly for decades. Try this with rich fish or poultry dishes in sauces, white meats or even spicy curry dishes.Tasted: 05 March 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
