Beringer Luminus Oak Knoll Chardonnay 2012
Oak Knoll District, Napa Valley, California, United StatesLuminus isn't at all what I was expecting in style of flavour in fact the single vineyard chardonnay from Oak Knoll is a bit of head turner. I love the style here that treads along the tropical but stay away from the fat and sweet and by using about 60 percent malolactic to beef up the textures to mix into fresh, nutty, ripe pear and apple flavours reign. Best of all the oak is far less formal leaving room for something like lobster or halibut to shine. Well done. Might we see more of this style across the range?Tasted: 12 March 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $40.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Treasury Wines |
