C.C. Jentsch The Chase 2012
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThere's lots to like here including the balance, the texture, the softness, the tannin management and freshness. The mix is 35/34/12.5/11/ 7 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, cabernet franc and malbec. What it needs is to 'chase' more physiological ripeness and shed some of the tomato flavours. Less cabernet sauvignon and impossible to ripen petit verdot would likely help too. Yet all in all I like the wine and the styling and give it high marks for persistence and freshness. Perfect for a southern France cassoulet or a hardy winter stew.
