Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe Alexander cab is an 88/6.5/5/5 mix of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot and looks to be an upgrade over previous releases. Most of the fruit comes of old vines using clones 337 and 7 from winemaker Mark Lyon's vineyard. This is a much richer more blockbuster style than the Sonoma County cab with plenty of black fruit aromas and flavours with the telltale chocolate notes of the Alexander Valley. The finish is long and balance with just a hint of stony minerality.
