La Vinyeta Heus Negre 2012
Alt Emporda, Empordà, Ampurdain-Costa Brava, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainThe Heus Negre mixes syrah, garnatxa negre, merlot and samsó, the first two variety averaging nearly 60 years of age. The local and international grapes are all handpicked and fermented in tank. Look for a Juicy, fresh, aromatic, modern red with black cherry and floral notes on the nose. The attack is round with meaty, spicy black fruit notes and a warm soft finish. Certainly good value for middleweight, mid-week dishes. The Empordà-based bodega's name is a play on the Catalan words for vineyard and comic strip. The wines are the chapters, and in this case the Heus series, come from the expression Heus aquí una vegada or once upon a time.Tasted: 26 January 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:Spain | $6.00 | 750ml | srp Euros |
