Zuccardi Aluvional Altamira 2011
Paraje Altamira, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaIt's hard to pick any of the Aluvional wines as the favourite or the best. They are all dynamic, electric and fun to assess at this point but we need time in the bottle and more vintages before any definitive assessments are made. The Altamira Aluvional is equally packed with licorice, savoury, violet, black cherry, vanilla, savoury, black pepper and chocolate aromas and flavours. The textures are smooth, juicy and stylish (concrete at work) but concentrated with suave tannins. These are early days for all these labels but what we see, taste and sense is the minerality and finesse that has long been missing from so many Argentine wines that make it to North America.
