Roche Audran Côtes du Rhône 2011

Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceOld vines are behind what appears to be a terrific little red for the price. The grenache is 55 to 100 years old, the carignan 82 and the syrah is somewhere from 30 to 50 years old. Low yields, sub 40 hl/ha all go into a blend that spends 12 months in a combination 20 percent small oak barriques, 35 percent oak tronconic tanks, and perhaps the magic ingredient 45% concrete tanks. Surprisingly well knit, balanced and well delicious drinking red with cherries pepper and black fruits all in perfect amounts. Somebody cares here.
