Neal Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe 08 cabernet mixes 84 percent Howell Mountain with 16 percent valley fruit and the winery dropped a fair bit of fruit with sun damage. Both factors in the it being the darkest Napa cab ever released. As you might expect the wine is bigger, more muscular this year with a rich nose of dark fruits, black cherries and a savoury minty undertone. This is expressive rich cabernet fruit with cedar, tobacco, tea and cocoa highlights. It needs a decade to really round into form. It spends 23 months in 81 percent new French oak.
