Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaThe Circle of Life labels are all about blends, but at Waterkloof there are site-driven so don't expect any traditional Bordeaux or Rhone red blends. The good news regarding 2009 is the cool season produced he best ever fruit at Waterkloof. The attack is soft and ripe with big, cedar notes on entry mixed with cassis and spice and what is a Waterkloof trademark: elegance. The grapes are mystery mix of mourvèdre, syrah, merlot, grenache, petit verdot and cabernet franc. You feel the balance first and it's enough to keep you interested.
