Margaux, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceMost like this wine and in retrospect it has fabulous balance in the mouth but my first impression is this is the greatest French oak barrel in the world but it is all I can taste at this point. The nose is all smoke and oak with spice, vanilla, coffee, compost and black fruit, resin flavours that disappear into the smoke and tobacco an oak that makes it unapproachable at this point. There is a sense of balance and intensity and the tannins are supple but I'll reserve judgement for now. If this was a new world wine there would be hell to pay for all the oak. Margaux, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceVery spicy, waxy, vanilla, coffee, barnyard, black berry jam, plum, smoky, gamey, tobacco, savoury, five spice and tobacco aromas. Rich, dry, full, tannic but elegant and suave with intensity. Back cherry jam, smoky, prune/plum and coffee flavours with meaty, vanilla, tobacco, resin, liquorice root and five spice. Very fine balance and intensity with good supple tannins but plenty of them. Lots of oak right now, needs 10-15 years at least. One to keep for the future.Tasted: 05 December 2012Tasted by: Prices:
