Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2009
St. Julien, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceAnother smoky toasted plenty of oak nose with floral liquorice earthy notes. The attack is dry, tight and somewhat bitter at this stage with good acidity and finesse but big tannins. More earthy coffee, tobacco leaf flavours dominate. Where is the fruit? The finish is dry and hard and slightly sour. Obviously it has potential but on this day it is disappointing. The blend is 76/15/9 cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc.
