Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2009

St. Julien, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceDucru mixes 75% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot. The nose was cool and fresh showing green olives a bit of Brettanomyces and meaty notes with more of that French oak smoke and toast. The palate is lean and sleek with fresh black fruits and some healthy tannins. The finish is firm and dry not showing much. Perhaps all these Bordeaux are in shut down mode for the next three years. The group scored this wine 1st overall with 92 points. Parker gave it 100 points. Clearly some controversy here.
