Susana Balbo Brioso 2009
Agrelo District, Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaBrioso is a 45/20/15/10/10 blend of cabernet sauvignon/merlot/malbec/cabernet franc/petit verdot from Luján de Cuyo, Tunuyan, Tupungato and San Carlos. It spends 15 months in 100% new French oak barrels. The nose is offers coffee, chocolate, cassis, vanilla, pepper, black olive and leather aromas. The attack is dry, full and juicy, the palate is suave with light, fine-grained tannins. There's plenty of flavour - jam, coffee, vanilla, balsamic, pepper, prunes and earth. Excellent intensity if a bit rustic on the finish. Give this another two to three years to integrate. Big fall dishes of squab duck or lamb are the ticket here.Tasted: 24 August 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:AB | $36.00 | 750ml | fine wine shops |
