M. Chapoutier Les Greffieux Ermitage Rouge 2009

Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceMade from vines grown at the bottom of the hill with alluvial granite and slate soils. The nose opens with is a spicy and wild, savoury, garrigue notes with bits of liquorice, floral, mineral meaty, orange peel aromas. Dry, full, round, elegant palate with light, fine-grained tannins. The attack is full of coffee bean, pepper, liquorice, dried herbs, smoked pepper, meaty, leather flavours. Nice intensity and length with finesse but not a super big Hermitage. Still will need three to seven years to soften and round out.Tasted: 24 August 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
