J Vineyards Pinot Meunier 2010
Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesNicole's Vineyard is separated into three blocks including the warmest in the portfolio and three acres of Pinot Meunier. Normally it goes into the Cuvée 20 but in 2010 it was bottled as a single variety. Basically handmade it went through malolactic fermentation in 100 percent French oak. After 15 months the best lots were selected and returned to barrel for another three months. The wine is juicy and ripe with black cherry and mocha highlights with a savoury dash throughout. Rich round and mouth-filling it has both structure and power beyond pinot noir. A perfect match for wild northwest salmon. The winery suggest Middle Eastern or Indian dishes as well.
