Telmo Rodriguez Pegaso Granito Garnacha 2008

Castilla-Leon, SpainTR made 9,600 bottles of this crazy delicious 100-percent grenache bush vines grown on granite of magma origin at 800 to 10oo metres above sea level. In keeping with Rodriguez's devotion to the land the fruit is linked to sites: El Robledillo, El Areguero, El Mojón near the mountain village of Cebreros (Avila). The fruit is organically grown fermented native yeast with no other additives. Expect a wild style but with finesse likely due to the spare nature of the granite soils and the inherently cool site. Look for red fruits, stony mineral floral aspects flecked with 'pretty' orange and citrus notes with a touch of wildness in the finish You would have trouble finding any of the oak left form 18 months in 600 litres of French barrels.Tasted: 03 May 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
