Telmo Rodriguez LZ Lanzeigo de Álava 2011
Rioja Alavesa, Rioja, SpainSurprisingly youthful purple colour. LZ is constructed to be an honest wine with the taste of the village. The fruit, a mix of old bush vine tempranillo, graciano and garnacha, is bought from three growers aged 60-65 years old. It is fermented traditionally in cement vats. Look for spicy, meaty, earthy, smoky nose with a fresh, round, dry palate and black raspberry, currants and cherries with a chalky mineral undercurrent. The style says Telmo "is pretty but not too serious." Grilled lamb chops anyone.Tasted: 03 May 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $24.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
