Rioja, SpainThere's nine varieties in the blend including garnacha blanco, chardonnay, malvasia, verdejo, viognier, sauvignon blanc but TR is not interested in the grapes. He wants the wine to talk about the place. The project is now 20 years old and this wine is stunning. Rodrigues uses seven different fermentations from cement eggs to cement vats, wood, glass and more to achieve the essence of the place. This wine is delicious now and will age gracefully but I say drink it now. Despite the imprecision of how it is made the wine has a precise, focused palate mixing white peaches, grapefruit and citrus with a squeeze of orange and a touch of ginger in the finish.
