Poggio Alle Gazie dell Ornellaia 2011
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyThe blend is 93/7 sauvignon blanc/viognier. The sauvignon blanc vines are outliers sprinkled throughout the estate; they were replanted to cabernet franc but some just didn't take. They are picked separately and go into this unique Tuscan white. The vines are 30 plus years old and the wine is barrel fermented adding texture and depth of flavours. You can expect fresh aromatic entry with lively acidity and intense, pear fruit character with a squeeze of lemon and peach and just a hint of minerality (wet stones) in the back end.Tasted: 19 May 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $77.99 | 750ml | private wine shops |
