Casa Catelli Montepulicano d Abruzzo 2011

Abruzzo, ItalyAccording to lore general Hannibal and his soldiers resisted the Roman Empire because his men were sustained by Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The grape montepulciano d'Abruzzo was brought to Italy from Greece and is not to be confused with Montepulciano DOC wine grown near the town Montepulciano (Tuscany) and made with sangiovese clone. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is relatively dark in colour, the nose is fresh with a mix of red and dark fruit, cedar and liquorice. Fairly gritty tannins mark its short-ish finish. Drink now with meat and mushroom pasta dishes.Tasted: 19 May 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
