Maison Nicolas Perrin Ermitage Rouge 2010

Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceOnly nine or ten barriques are made each year. The style is crafted to use three main terroir: 'Grandes Vignes' where granite soils give minerality and fine tannins; the rolled pebbles 'Greffieux' for aromatics and small amount from the calcareous soil of 'Muret' for elegance and finesse. Its 100 percent syrah where 30 goes into new oak and the rest stainless steel. The attack is sensational with juicy stony mineral/violent aroma flecked with black fruit. Similar flavours mark the palate with impressive peppery highlights. Needs a decade to really show its stuff. Tasted: 24 April 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
