Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2009
Verona, Veneto, ItalyThis blend is a 70/25/5/ mix of corvina Veronese, rondinella and sangiovese. Post-harvest up to 30 percent of the grapes are dried until December. At this point the fresh wine fermented at harvest is blended into the fermenting juice of the dried grapes. The resulting fermentation adds complexity and depth to the blend. This is a delicious red wine, dark in colour with aromas and flavours of sweet cherries and black fruit, flecked with spice and bits of fig. The tannins are rich and youthful suggesting this will keep a decade or more in bottle. Drink it now with roasted meats, hefty risotto dishes, or your favourite cheese. Some 40 percent of the wine is spends four months in new and second year French oak barrels. The rest remains in stainless steel tanks. A country red with a lot of style.Prices:BC | $38.00 | 750ml |

Gérard Bertrand Gris Blanc 2012
Vin de Pays d'Oc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceThe arrival of the Bertrand Gris Blanc ups the summer rosé ante. Dry rosé is where it is at today if you want to been seen as serious producer of a not so serious wine. The colour is pale pink perfection, the nose delightfully fruity strawberry/cranberry with wet stone minerality throughout. You can sip this solo now or you could keep it another year but 12 months in contact with a cork won't help anything here. Try this with your favourite summer foods on the patio and watch your guests swoon. All its needs is a price that makes sense.Prices:BC | $25.00 | 750ml |
