Zagreus Vinica 2009
Thracian Valley, BulgariaZagreus winery is located in the Thracian valley (South Bulgaria) near Plovdiv and Assenovgrad. This wine is made with indigenous mavrud grapes that are dried on straw mats for three months. The nose is meaty with peppery, leather, light barnyard, olive and cherry aromas. The attack is full but elegant palate with a dusting of dry, astringent tannins and vanilla, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, peppery, olive, meaty, black cherry and cedar flavours. Youthful and rustic but that should fade with time or a grilled beef entre. As of 2010, Zagreus is using organic grapes.Tasted: 21 January 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $23.49 | 750ml |
