Ramos Pinto Porto RP10 Quinta de Ervamoira 10 Year Old Tawny NV
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalRamos Pinto was founded in 1880, but they have tread a fine line between innovation and tradition. They are well known for their impeccable viticulture and sites, and it's reflected in other wines. They make several single quinta ports, capturing the unique qualities of each vineyard. Quinta de Ervamoira is the winery's experimental vineyard located in the Douro Superior, on the left bank of the Douro River. Its impressive 240 acres of vines are planted vertically, unlike the more traditional terraced rows over poor schistous soils. Although its label is ten years old, portions of 75 year old wines are in the mix, adding complexity, nutty notes, elegance, and finesse. Look for an orange/red colour with a walnut, peppery, black tea, spicy, raisin nose with some rancio aromas. The palate is creamy, full, and round, with hints of molasses, black licorice, caramel, and dried herbs. Intense, complex, and persistent, you can drink or hold. This is going nowhere.Tasted: 29 August 2024Tasted by: Prices:
