Quinta Ferreira Porta D'ouro 2009
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI'm told the name has to change if they want to keep their VQA designation but this is a very good rendition of port, made by a Portuguese family, not in Portugal. The fruit is merlot and the fortification came late in the game to keep the sugar in check. At 18.2 percent alcohol it has a bit of fire and price on the nose and during the attack but there is a richness of black fruit with hints of dried fruits and sage in the finish. Try this with older hard cheeses, chocolate or a bowl of slated nuts. Well made.Tasted: 18 November 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $0.00 | 500ml | VQA wine stores, winery direct |
