Errazuriz Max Reserva Single Vineyard Carmenére 2010

Valle de Aconcagua, Region de Aconcagua, ChileThe grapes that go into the Single Vineyard Carmenère come off the Max V vineyard at some 560 m (1,837 ft.) above sea level. The vines are now 20 years old and completely settled into the sites sandy loam soils that is 50 percent stones. A cooler vintage has supercharged this carmenère with bright black fruit and pepper. It spends about a year in a mix of French and American oak of which one third is new. The attack is intense with roasted red peppers, tobacco and blackberries conspiring to produce a glossy red with smooth light tannins. Try this with your favourite pork dish.Tasted: 09 November 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
