Yalumba The R Reserve 2004
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe Yalumba R Reserve is only made in exceptional years and even then it is a selection of less than two dozen barrels ( the eyes of Signature) that represent the best cabernet sauvignon and shiraz in the company. The mix honours the classic Australian blend and in the case of 2004 it is 69/31 mix of cabernet /shiraz. The fruit comes off selected Barossa blocks and lesser parts from Langhorne Creek and Coonawarra. The Reserve is all about texture. The palate is rich and dense but with creamy, supple and almost silky texture. There is plenty of dark fruit and chocolate with spicy liquorice undertones and creamy that seemingly lingers for minutes after each sip. Perfectly balanced. Ready to drink now but will be fine through 2020.Tasted: 04 October 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:Australia | $120.00 | 750ml | srp |
