Sette Ponti Crognolo 2009

Tuscany, ItalyAs good as the 2008 is the 2009 is even better. The mini super-Tuscan blend is 85 percent sangiovese and 15 percent merlot and cabernet sauvignon all grown over clay over galestro limestone. Crognolo takes its name from the Cornus bush that grows on the property, is aged for 12 to 18 months in French Allier barriques and 6 months in bottle before release. The '09 is a much richer version than its predecessor '08. It still has the freshness and the acidity but the body is warmer, richer and deeper in flavour and complexity with soft polished tannins in the finish. You can easily cellar this for five years or serve it now with rich, warm, fall and winter stews and roasts.Tasted: 05 October 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
